Djokovic Makes Team Changes

Novak Djokovic will have a new look when he returns to action in Cincinnati.

The world No. 1, who will skip next week's Roger's Cup in Toronto, has hired a new trainer.

According to Serbian journalist Saša Ozmo of Sportklub, Djokovic has hired Marco Panichi to succeed Gebhard Phil-Gritsch as his new fitness trainer. It's a return to the Serbian's team for Panichi, who previously worked with Djokovic for stretches of 2017 and 2018.

Former Wimbledon champion Goran Ivanisevic, who joined Djokovic's coaching team for the first week of Wimbledon, will serve as primary coach for the 16-time Grand Slam champion in Cincinnati. The pair have been practicing together in Spain.

Marian Vajda, Djokovic's long-time head coach, will rejoin the team in New York for the US Open next month.

Vajda is taking a break from the tour to be home with his pregnant daughter, who is scheduled to give birth in August.

After taking some rest and recovery time following his win over eight-time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer in the longest Wimbledon final in history, Djokovic has been back on the court in Spain practicing with Ivanisevic.
