Alexander Zverev’s personal and professional life continue to carry on in a state of flux. The German announced that he has parted ways with TEAM8, the agency that took over his management and which Roger Federer owns an ownership stake in.
“An almost two-year long legal dispute with my former agent finally came to a successful resolution,” Zverev said on Instagram. “So I have spent a long time thinking about my short and long term strategies going forward.”
The German says he will “go back to his roots” and have his family help him with his coaching, as well as his brother Mischa and Sergei Bubka, who will help with his management.
Zverev, currently ranked 7 in the world, recently parted ways with coach David Ferrer after a turbulent year that saw him have success on the court, where he reached his first Grand Slam final at the US Open. But his off-court life was marred by controversy. Zverev’s ex-girlfriend Brenda Patea announced she was pregnant with his child at around the same time that another ex, Olga Sharypova, went public with domestic abuse claims against the German.
The German continues to deny the claims of abuse, and is apparently working towards a future with Patea, with him involved as the father.
The 23-year-old posted on Instagram about the accusations in October.
Why Olga is making these accusations now, I just don’t know,” he wrote, calling her claims “unfounded.”
“I really hope that the two of us will find a way to deal with each other again in a reasonable and respectful way.”
