Roger Federer fans should book their tickets at Roland Garros for 2019. The Swiss revealed that he intends to play on clay in 2019. Here’s what he said to reporters in French when talking about the subject.

"I'm at a moment where I think it would be nice to do it," 2009 Roland Garros champion Federer said. "I can say I have missed it, I did the right thing skipping it last year, the year before as well, and the year before that I was injured. So I felt I wanted to do it again."

Federer said that he doesn’t feel he needs a long break in the middle of the season as he has done previously.

The move indicates that the Swiss might be a little less focused on winning Wimbledon and a little more focused on experience all that the tour has to offer in what are thought to be his final seasons on tour.

After falling in four sets to Stefanos Tsitsipas on Sunday in Melbourne, Federer had high praise for the 20-year-old.

“I think he's definitely done a really nice job now the last year and a half. I mean before that, too, obviously. But beating Novak in Toronto, the likes of Anderson and Zverev, now me here. That's what you need to do to get to the next level. He's doing that. It's really nice for him. I see him definitely being high up in the game for a long time. That was a good night for him tonight.”
