After Serena Williams straight sets win over Lucie Safarova on Day 4 a reporter opened a post-match press conference with some negative jabs.

“It looked a little bit of a scrappy performance,” he said. “A few more unforced errors, a couple more double-faults.”

Williams, who hit 35 winners to 23 unforced errors in the 6-3, 6-4 victory against former Top-10 player and Grand Slam finalist Safarova, was having none of that (in her defense, we found the math to be very well-played and of high quality).

So, she set the young man straight.

“I think that’s a very negative thing to say,” she said. “Are you serious? You should have been out there. That wasn’t very kind. You should apologize… do you apologize?”

She continued: “That was a great performance, I played well. She’s a former Top 10 player and the last time we played was in the final of a Grand Slam… so, yeah, I think it was overall a really good match on both of our ends.”

There you have it.
