Caroline Garcia went post-to-post pulling off one of the most audacious shots of the month in Doha today.

It takes plenty of daring and an ingenious angle to beat Dominika Cibulkova with a drop volley.

Following a slice backhand forward, Garcia flicked a forehand volley winner sideways than nearly sent her opponent into the net post in pursuit.

The superb shot sparked Garcia to a 6-3, 6-7 (3), 6-0 triumph that sent her into the Qatar Total Open round of 16 where she may face her former doubles partner, Kristina Mladenovic, next.

The 11th-seeded Mladenovic takes on qualifier Anna Blinkova for a place in the round of 16.
