Dominic Thiem is finding his footing on the red clay of Rio. It hasn’t been the most perfect start to the 2017 season, but the World No. 8 advanced to his first semifinal of the season on Friday with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Argentina’s Diego Schwartzman.

Thiem will face Albert Ramos-Vinolas, who defeated Nicolas Kicker, 6-2, 6-3, in one of Saturday's semifinals.

Theim broke six times on six opportunities to earn his 10th victory of the season, but all of the solid points he played—and there were quite a few, and some shaky as well—will undoubtedly be outshined by this colossally brilliant ‘tweener winner.

We’re not sure which is better, the well-struck winner or Thiem’s reaction to the shot. What is it about tennis players? They can do this in their sleep and yet they still act like a child on Christmas morning when they hit those ‘tweener winners.
