In one flawless week, Borna Coric has taken his ranking from 152 to 29. That jump of 123 spots is thanks to a command performance at the Western and Southern Open in Cincinnati, where Coric defeated five Top-15 seeds, including Rafael Nadal and Stefanos Tsitsipas (also Cameron Norrie, Roberto Bautista Agut and Felix Auger-Aliassime) en route to his first Masters 1000 title.
The effort earns Coric, a former World No.12, a spot in the Top-30, and a seed at the US Open.
The 25-year-old Croatian is not the only one rising in this week’s rankings. Here’s a look at some other ATP ranking highlights for the week of August 22.
Career-High Ranking for Auger-Aliassime and Norrie
Canada’s Auger-Aliassime, who fell to Coric in the quarterfinals at Cincinnati, jumps to No.8 in Monday’s rankings. That’s a new record for the 22-year-old, who is 36-20 on the year with his maiden title at Rotterdam.
Coming in at No.9, and making a Top-10 debut, is Great Britain’s Cameron Norrie. Norrie fell to Coric in the semifinals. The British No.1 is 41-19 on the season with two titles.
