Wozniacki To Join ESPN US Open Coverage


Eleven years after she reached her maiden major final at the 2009 US Open, Caroline Wozniacki is making a comeback of sorts.

The former world No. 1, who closed the curtain on her career at the Australian Open in January, will join ESPN's US Open coverage as a guest analyst during "the later portion of week two", the network announced.

The greatest player that Denmark has ever produced, Wozniacki won 30 titles and held the world No.1 ranking for 71 weeks. 

The two-time US Open finalist joins an extensive roster of ESPN analysts for the Open including Cliff Drysdale, Chrissie Evert, Darren Cahill, Brad Gilbert, Mary Joe Fernandez, John McEnroe, Patrick McEnroe, Rennae Stubbs, Pam Shriver, James Blake, Bethanie Mattek-Sands, Chris Fowler, Jason Goodall, Chris McKendry, Patrick Mouratoglou, Alexandra Stevenson and Tom Rinaldi.



ESPN touts more than 130 hours of live US Open match coverage across its platforms. The network's first ball to last ball coverage begins Monday, August 31st and clusive live coverage with daily marathon telecasts from the US Open beginning Monday, August 31, and concluding with the Women’s and Men’s Championships, Saturday, September 12th and Sunday, September 13th, respectively.

Though no fans or print media are permitted on site at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, ESPN says the 2020 US Open will be its largest production of the year.
  • In total, more than 600 crew members on site.
  • The entire tournament is covered, all 13 courts, with most days lasting 12 or more hours.
  • Coverage is provided to broadcasters in virtually every corner of the globe.
  • Equipment: 10 40’ sea containers (63,000 kg), plus air freight (35,000 kg) and road containers (25,000) totaling 9,500 pieces of technical equipment. 12 control rooms, 10 TraACES ViBox production suites, two host sets, and 134 cameras including 25 in Arthur Ashe Stadium and three aerial cameras.
  • 22,000-square-feet of production space created specifically for the US Open.
