The case of the phantom ball.

Rafael Nadal can’t believe it when Hawk-Eye fails to produce a video of a shot by Borna Coric after the Spaniard challenged the call.

Umpire Ali Nili probably couldn’t believe it either but he handled the situation as best he could. He calmly informed Nadal that the video was not available but that Hawk-Eye had confirmed with him that the ball was in despite the missing video.

That brought sullen frown to Nadal’s face before he took a moment, thought about the ridiculousness of the situation and laughed it off.

Things got a little weirder for Nadal before his match with Denis Shapovalov on Thursday night. Check out this crazy video of a cameraman falling as Nadal performs his pre-match spring to the baseline.

Nadal checked to make sure the fallen cameraman was okay before getting back to his business.

Footwork. It matters in tennis and also in video.
