Alejandro Davidovich Fokina has stepped out of the US Open.

World No. 27 Davidovich Fokina officially withdrew from the Flushing Meadows major today due to an ongoing back injury that forced him out of both Toronto and Cincinnati.

The US Open main draw begins on Sunday, August 30th.

Davidovich Fokina, who beat American Ethan Quinn to capture his maiden ATP title on the grass of Mallorca in June, went on to reach the Wimbledon fourth round falling to Felix Auger-Aliassime. Davidovich Fokina has played only two matches since Wimbledon. Davidovich Fokina reached the US Open fourth round in both 2020 and 2022.

The Spaniard’s absence in New York likely means he will fall from the Top 30 after the Open.

Aussie Alexei Popyrin will replace the 27-year-old Spaniard in the field. Big serving American Martin Damm is the next man out of the main draw.
